“Welcome to Gooderham, a caring community where great things are possible!”

Imagine waking up to fresh air and a panoramic view of nature, and ending the day with a great view of the Milky Way and stars – all year round!

Located in the Municipality of Highlands East, Gooderham is part of the naturally stunning and picturesque County of Haliburton. With thirteen lakes and the Irondale River nearby, you can relax on a dock or take the opportunity to canoe, kayak, boat, swim, fish or jet-ski. There is access to many terrific multi-use trails to enjoy hiking, biking, off-road motorcycling, ATVing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

Located just over two hours from Toronto and four hours from Ottawa, Gooderham is home to more than 700 full-time residents, hundreds of seasonal residents and more than 30 locally-owned and operated businesses available to serve you.

“Catch the Gooderham spirit! Kick-back and experience the wonder, beauty and fun of Haliburton County’s backyard!”

If you’ve ever wondered, Gooderham was named after George Gooderham of the famed Gooderham and Worts Distillery. He often called in to keep the town pub stocked with spirits, and in 1873 made a generous donation for the building of a local church.

An easy place to live, vacation and escape the busy life of the city, Gooderham is part of the Geocaching capital of Canada. You can tour maple syrup sugar bushes, join local gardening groups or enjoy the arts and the famed fall studio tour in Haliburton County. Along with a public access beach, Gooderham’s park and community centre has a fully equipped playground for kids, tennis and pickle ball courts, a walking trail and an outdoor skating rink in winter.

It’s all here, just waiting for you! Explore our website to learn more.
