The Gooderham Bottle Drive Shed

The Gooderham Community Action group (GCAG) works for, and with, the community to create a positive living and visiting experience for everyone. Among its activities, the GCAG:

  • Decorates and maintains the town’s flower boxes with seasonal themes

  • Maintains the Gooderham Bulletin Board located in town and this website

  • Helps those in need within our community to enjoy a better Christmas.

  • Presents a $1000.00 bursary award each year to a Gooderham student for their post-secondary education

  • Organizes Gooderham’s February Family Day, Canada Day afternoon celebration, Music Festival, August 503 Street Sale, Trunk and Treat Halloween, Kid’s Christmas event and Annual Christmas Dinner

  • Has planted a Christmas Tree beside the Gooderham Firehall that is lit during winter.

  • Financially helps groups including the Station 3 Firehouse, local Heat Bank and Fire & Rescue Auxiliary

  • Presents a yearly Community Spirit Award to a local individual

Over the years, the GCAG has:

  • completed a walking trail around Gooderham Community Park and purchased benches and a picnic table;

  • helped raise funds for the local skating rink;

  • purchased chairs to make the Community Centre more accessible for those with disabilities;

  • and helped fund new night lights for the town tennis courts as well as the painting of pickle ball lines on the courts.

The GCAG has assisted and financially helped groups and events within our community including:

  • Kids parties;

  • Preschool play day;

  • Family Day;

  • Tree Lighting Ceremony;

  • and Dedication of the Robert McCausland Memorial Community Centre.

All this work is funded largely by donations of liquor, wine and beer empties dropped off at the Gooderham Community Bottle Drive shed located in the Gooderham Timber Mart parking lot!
