We are so proud that graduating high school student Avery Horner has been awarded the $1,000 Gooderham Community Bursary funded by the Gooderham Community Action Group.
The daughter of Jennifer and Brian Horner of Gooderham, Avery will be attending Waterloo University this fall to study physics and astronomy. The bursary was awarded through the Haliburton Highlands Secondary School Scholarship and Bursary Program.
Avery told members of the Action Group that she is thankful for their work in the community. She remembers attending many of the fun events that the Group puts on each year.
The Action Group largely funds its programs through donations of liquor, wine and beer empties dropped off at the Gooderham Community Bottle Drive shed located in the Gooderham Timber Mart parking lot.
